With no time to process the revelation that flips her world upside down, Vivy is catapulted into a century-long journey to avert the violent history yet to come. In a desperate bid to prevent the calamity from ever occurring, a scientist bets everything on a remnant from the past. Together with Gai Tsutsugami, another member of the resistance, Shü and Inori fight with mysterious innate abilities known as 'imperial powers.When highly evolved AIs set out to eradicate mankind, the carnage that ensues fills the air with the stench of fresh blood and burning bodies. Shü Ohma, an unsociable 17-year-old high school student, meets Inori Yuzuriha, lead singer for Egoist who is part of the Undertaker resistance group to liberate Japan. A multinational organization known as GHQ brings the lawless country under control, but at the price of its sovereignty. The anime takes place in Japan the year 2039, ten years after an unidentified 'Apocalypse Virus' devastated the land in an incident known as Lost Christmas. The series is directed by Tetsuro Araki with scrip supervision by Hiroyuki Yoshino, character designs by redjuice, and music by Ryo, composer and lyricist of the Japanese band Supercell, and by Hiroyuki Sawano.
